Find a place you love.

Rentler is an online property management tool serving landlords and tenants nationwide, processing thousands of applications and rental payments each month. It’s also a tool that helps tenants navigate rental processes like applications, payments, and listings via an intuitive search utility — so that finding a home is exciting, instead of aggravating.

I was hired as head of design and charged with collaborating with members of the marketing team to create a new branding guidelines for Rentler. We utilized these new guidelines to develop a new design for the marketing site, update places for rent, improve the experience of the existing product design, create a social media strategy and build a native mobile app.

During my time at Rentler, I designed a new marketing site, improved core features where tenants can apply to multiple listings with one screening, added a feature where DIY landlords can list multiple properties, and created a new visual design brand identity. My intention was to design a  product that is truly about improving the relationship between landlords & tenants.

Challenges

Not only were we redesigning the current site to meet the needs of new business strategies, but the site also needed to be flexible enough to incorporate any new product features. Because of this, everything had to be designed with the future in mind, and ensure that present-day user experiences would not be hindered by a lack of functionality.

EARLY PROTOTYPE

During the initial desing & development phase I created several prototypes using the principle app to help guide and inform any motion design that was needed.

PAID LISTINGS

One of the more difficult problems to solve for Rentler was an added a feature to the current product offering that would allow landlords to purchase additional listings. We built a simple way to quickly see how many listings available, how many were active and how were free or paid.

In early 2021 we launched updates to our listings websites to bring alignment with the new subscription service and improve the filters & user interface elements.

We created over one hundred unique screens, including data visualizations and workflows. With such a passionate team intent on improving the tenant experience, it was an extremely rewarding project to lead.
